Testimonials
Within this trip I learned about myself, pushed beyond the brink of comfort. I witnessed raw human nature, the drive
for survival. The beauties of the world untouched by man. The ugly of medicine not everyone can be healed. I
encountered incredible people from all different paths of life. My passion for medicine has never been solidified till
now.
“Life starts outside one's comfort zone… we traveled thousand of miles away to a village of
absolute poverty in Ghana, Africa. We got to experience life with no means of technology. More
importantly, we got the chance to practice the art of appreciation and to put a little gratitude into
our daily lives.”
I have never seen so much love, joy, and amazement in a child's eye in the midst of poverty. A
place where a common cold is fatal. Where 12 year old kids are taking care of their one year old
brother as if he were the father and an 8 year old girl carrying her one year old sister on her
back. A place where kids don't have a childhood, where they have to grow up too fast. The
mobility and want to help others amazed everyone in the team. Ghana is a time to remember
and keep in our hearts. I can say I have never wanted to become a doctor. Ghana, I will see you
again soon.
This trip is unforgettable. It's so eye opening to see the way others live. The things these kids
have to go through is so heartbreaking. Ghana along with its people especially the children, will
always have a special place in my heart
I've met people that some will be in my life forever, and some in my heart. colleagues that started off as strangers and
now turned into family. local people that you see go through so much, but still smiling and dancing. these kids are the
happiest people I’ve met despite the conditions they're growing up in. I’ll speak for myself in this part and say that the
things I considered small before this trip, air conditioning or food in our fridge or a bed or clean water or clothes, are
not so small in other places. having access to healthcare is another thing, if not the biggest thing, that is taken for
granted.
